Dozens of people—including children—were killed and many more were displaced as flash flooding swept away thousands of homes In Afghanistan's eastern Logar Province. Instant Aid mobilized within hours of the floods to begin delivering fresh meals to impacted families sheltering at camps in the hard-hit district of Khushi.

This and other recent disasters in eastern Afghanistan—including a 5.9-magnitude earthquake in June that killed more than 1,000 people—are compounding food insecurity in the country. Adding to these concerns is the fact that flash floods have also destroyed vast swaths of farmland and killed thousands of farm animals.

Following distribution of meals and water in partnership with World Central Kitchen, the team assisted local partners to repair damaged water wells in the remote mountainous provinces of Paktika and Khost following the June earthquake.
