With no education, most Deaf people in poor countries cannot read their own names or count to 10. Unemployment rates in the deaf community are high and most live in poverty. Some nations do not permit their deaf citizens to earn a driver's license. A few nations have legal limits on the rights of deaf people to marry and raise a family.
